This HASS unit for Years 5 & 6, The History, Geography and Momentum of Clean Energy in Australia, has been designed to
- explore historical shifts in energy sources, enabling students to understand how these transitions have shaped society and the environment over time
- analyse geographic factors influencing Australia’s energy production, helping students predict future changes in the nation’s energy landscape
- develop critical thinking skills, equipping students to assess the credibility of information related to renewable energy
- highlight the importance of accurate information and community involvement, encouraging students to reflect on their role in promoting informed community decision-making
- foster respectful debate and democratic participation, giving students the tools to navigate complex discussions and represent diverse stakeholder perspectives effectively.
Through collaborative research, timeline creation, role-play and debate, students will build the knowledge and skills necessary to participate confidently in balanced and informed conversations about Australia’s clean energy future.
