Stop the Coward Punch - Art for Impact

These resources are part of the STOP the Coward Punch Education Resources suite of resources, created in collaboration with Danny Green’s STOP the Coward Punch Campaign.

These Arts resources for Years 7–10 have been designed to

• explore culture jamming as a method of manipulating media logos and cultural symbols to drive social change
• use drama and dance to portray conflict, emphasising the role of bystanders and upstanders in shaping social attitudes
• apply Brechtian and non-naturalistic theatre techniques to interpret blank scripts and challenge audiences through social activist performances
• experiment with visual arts conventions to illustrate the physical and emotional effects of violence, exploring diverse materials and processes
• reflect on personal attitudes around aggression, racism, and masculinity to foster empathy, collaboration and responsible action
• collaborate on creative projects that integrate the core messages of the STOP the Coward Punch campaign, inspiring safer, more supportive communities
• enhance critical thinking skills by evaluating and adapting artistic elements—status, chorus, dramatic devices—to communicate social change

Throughout these lessons, students learn to harness the arts as a platform for social change, transforming complex ideas about violence, power and social responsibility into compelling performances and artworks. By applying the STOP the Coward Punch message to their creative practice, they help shift perspectives and encourage positive change in their communities.
