Transport use at your school

Estimate the transport types for students and staff at your school. Write your estimates for the following:

Step 1. Surveying student and staff transport use

Asking questions - The aim of this activity is to record data about the ways that students and staff travel to school. You will need to think carefully about how you ask staff and students questions about their travel, making sure you choose positive language. This is not an exercise in naming and shaming!

Student transport

Unless you go to a small school, you will be surveying a sample of the students at your school. You will then use this sample to calculate averages for the whole of the school.

You need to find out the distances for one-way travel.

How will you work out the whole-of-school averages for the totals below? This is very easy to work out. Simply add up all the numbers and divide by how many numbers there are!
